The Ford’s Colony, Marsh Hawk course is a true classic course design that does not rely on length to provide a quality golf experience. Generous tree-lined fairways, natural ponds and wetlands, small undulating greens, strategically placed bunkers and excellent use of the natural topography allow this par 72, measuring 6,700 yards from the back tees to be an excellent test of golf for all playing abilities. Marsh Hawk hosted the 1998 and 1999 Virginia State Opens and Monday qualifying for the 2005, 2006, and 2007 Nationwide Tour’s Henrico County Open as well as the PGA Tour’s Michelob Championship Monday Qualifier for 12 consecutive years. During the summer of 2017 the Marsh Hawk course underwent a putting green renovation that returned the greens to their original size and shape while converting the putting surfaces to Champion Bermuda grass. The renovation also included adding several tee boxes, removing numerous trees to improve turf quality and playability as well as several beautification projects. The course has received excellent reviews from golf club members and public players alike. |
